MCO f 09 23 (Tortie Mackerel Tabby/White)
d. o. b. 09.15.05
I have to admit that I have wanted to own a MCO or two for a long time, but for different reasons it hasn't been possible to buy any until now. She is my very first MCO and is a delight to own! She will definately not be the only MCO in our house, but since we are in no hurry she will be the "one and only" for now:-)
I have bought her in Belgium from a breeder who has health and low inbreeding procentages as her number 1 priority.
Misha flew to Denmark with Maggie on February 17th and she's just as wonderfull as we had expected her to be. Afterwards has Carli visited Misha in her home, in order for her to see Mishas cats "live":-) It was originally planed that Carli was going to Mishas home and take Maggie back with her, but the plan was changed at the last minute and we paid for Mishas flight to DK.

As part of the HCM project at KVL, some of our cats was asked to come and give bloodsamples and also be scaned for HCM. Maggie was one of the cats we entered the project. When she'll be scaned again is not sure, because we don't know yet when she'll be called back into the project at KVL. More info will be added as we get it. The reason why there's 2 results for Maggie, is because Jørgen Kock, the primary source behind the project, wanted to rescan some of the cats, to see if their results had changed, even though only a week had passed since the first scanning. And that wasn't more true than for our Maggie!

Maggies kittens are here and she had 6! Mags has proven to be the perfect mother, caring for her babies all the time:-)
01.20.08
We have kept one of her daugthers, Lucky, in our breeding program.
06.21.08
Maggie has been mated to Sunny and will have her kittens in mid July.
07.22.08
Unfortunately Maggie went empty and she will be send to be mated at Misha's as soon as possible.
02.06.09
The second time things went better and she gave birth to her
beautiful
kittens yesterday:-)

It has been the plan all along that we would have Maggie
neutered after her second litter because she's heterozygot for the only
known DNA-mutation
which can cause HCM in MCO's. As luck has it, it looks like the cats
that does get HCM and also have the mutation is very few, much fewer
than was first assumed, but even with this fact in mind, that no one
knows for sure how severe the HCM that might or might not be expressed
in cats with the mutation, we have chosen to stand by our initial
decision and have Maggie neutered, although we haven't gotten 2 females
who are free from the mutation from her as planned:-( She will be
neutered in the near future. We have kept Berlingo
in our breeding program even though she's heterozygote positive like
her mother.
