F*Alsciaukat Baccarat

I went to the South of France on October 2nd. 2006 to pick up Baccarat at her breeders home. The picture was taken a few minutes after she had arrived to our home:-) There will be more information about Baccarat once we have become more familiar with her, but I can already share the fact that she's a very good purrer and she loves to have her belly rubbed:-)

I can't THANK Florence ENOUGH for letting Baccarart be allowed to come and live with us! I will always be in dept to you! also thank you to Misha for telling me about Baccarat:-)

Baccarat is a very loving and happy cat. She prefers to take part in EVERYTHING ALL the time and is a huge help when I use my keyboard, reads books including the other activities that she feels we should "do together:-) When we are eating she would like to be on my lap and take part in what we are doing:-)

We get a lot of request about when Baccarat will be mated and to whom:-) Our plan is to have Baccarat HCM scanned in April 2008 and pending on her result we will then have her mated to a gentleman in another country, that is all we wish to say at this moment:-)

Baccarat has been mated with Sunny and her kittens are due in mid July.

Baccarat is an excellent mom; perhaps she's a bit to protective of her kittens, but since this is her first litter it's understandable that she wants everybody to know that she's in charge:-)

Baccarat will continue to be a part of the HCM project that's taken place at the Royal Danish Veterinarian school in Copenhagen.

If all goes according to the plan Baccarat will be mated in April/May 2009 in Sweden.

Today Carli delivered Baccarat into the care of Valpen and his owner, Ingela, in Sweden! We hope that they will make some beautiful babies together, they certainly complimate each other really nicely both in looks and in the pedigrees! Thank you so much to Ulrika (Ylletrollet´s) for helping me getting connected with Ingela!

Baccarat went back and was mated to Valpen but again she went empty. Baccarat will be mated to another nice boy in Sweden, but it's not certain when that will take place. More info will follow when we have them:-)

Baccarat has been to Sweden and has been mated to Brocklyn and we hope that she's pregnant this time:-)

Finally Baccarat had her babies:-) and gave birth to her and Brocco's kittens on May 14 and 15. Unfortunately one of the 3 kittens wouldn't come out on it's own, so it ended with a c-section and we chose to have her neutered there and then.

After Baccarat had been neutered and the month thereafter where she had free access to the rich kittenfood, together with her kittens, she gained a lot of pounds. And even after she no longer had access to the kittenfood, she still kept on gaining weigth:-( In April 2011 she weigh almost 8 kg and we had to face the fact that unless we did something drastic about it, we wouldn't be able to keep her around to old age. Making changes that would make it possible for Baccarat to lose her excess weight wasn't easy to find. The only way we could controle what she was eating, would be to put her in a secluded area and put her on a special diet feed from the vet. The vet warned us though that once she had lost the pounds she needed to lose, she would most probably gain it all back once she was back with the other cats and the normal food. In the end we desided to buy the speciel food she needed, put her on a diet and hopefully find a new home for her not long after. We also hopped that she might be able to eat normal food when she had lost the weight she needed to lose and was in a new home.

We were contacted by som nice people that wanted to come and see Edward, Baccarats son, because they had lost their cat and they as well as their german shepard were so used to having a cat around that they wanted another cat to forefill their lifes. At the time some one else was coming to have a look at Edward but we told them that they were welcome to come and see Baccarat if they wanted too. When they came they got so taken with her temperament and because they only wanted to share their life with one cat, we felt that it would be the right home for Baccarat. Not only could she get the special food she needed to lose weight, but she would also be able to go back on regulated normal food at some point, seeing that it would only be her that would eat from the cat food. Baccarat has also been fond of humans and dogs, she has also been very fond of other cats, but if there was a cat that could be an only cat in a home, she would be the one I would pick for that home.

Carli delivered her to her new home and since then we have gotten regular reports about how well she is doing in her new enviroment. When the first month had passed she had lost the first kilo even though she was bringing home mouse on a regular basis. The mice isn't always dead so it is with mixed feelings when her humans sees her caring a mouse into the home:-) After 1 month Carli went to see for herself how well Baccarat had settled into her new home as well as how huge a difference the weightlose has meant for her. After app. 2½ month Baccarat had lost all the extra kilos and was down to her normal 5 kg.

We plan to be kept updated on a regular basis on Baccarat life and visit her from time to time. We have also arranged that we can bring her with us to LIFE and have her scanned on a regular basis for HCM. And of course the breeder of Baccarat has been kept up to speed about the desicions we have made regarding Baccarat and we have her full support when making those desicions.

Baccarat has a great life with Jørgen and Marianne, and right now she is on vacation in our home while her humans is on a vacation too:-) We have arranged to have Baccarat scanned on 12.05.11 at LiFE and we are of course hoping that she is still free from any signs of HCM.
